Finca - Cortijo in Alora

Location This classic Cortijo, about 40 minutes drive from Málaga airport, is easily accessible for both national and international guests. The road to the Cortijo is paved and during the route to the Cortijo you immediately enter the typical Andalusian countryside with distinctive mountains, olive & fruit trees and many breathtaking views. Casa Canelo is a unique Andalusian Cortija built in the classic style and, while retaining all its architectural charm, has been sympathetically renovated and extended to offer all modern conveniences. The estate extends to 48,550m2 with 300m2 of built property. It includes a successful Airbnb rental and extensive planted hillsides and gardens. The property is fortunate to be connected to fresh drinkable spring water from the El Torcal mountain. While being complete in itself the property additionally offers the opportunity for simple conversion into a guest house and/or the installation of further rental businesses across the estate. The bustling white village of Alora with its Spanish charm is about 15 minutes drive from this cortijo and offers all necessary amenities including restaurants and bars, local shops and a medical centre as well as a primary and secondary school, sports facilities and a quick train connection to Málaga. For adventurers and holiday makers there are several options nearby such as kayaking on the Ardales lakes, hiking on the worldfamous “El Caminito del Rey”, mountain climbing in El Chorro and kilometres of hiking and cycling trails through the beautiful surroundings. The UNESCO natural park El Torcal is a national attraction and is even visible from your own estate. The approach to the property is through a wooded and lush mountain valley. Arriving at the secure metal gates you immediately appreciate the beautiful country setting, nestled into a small hillside and surrounded my spectacular views. There are beautiful views of the rolling countryside from every part of the plot. There is plenty of planting, rock formations and many beautiful footpaths on the estate. With plenty of space, privacy is guaranteed and you have endless possibilities. A driveway leads you to the Cortijo Cortijo Top floor A lush ivy archway surrounds a portico and it is through this you enter the front of the house on the top floor. Classic Spanish studded doors open into a bright rustic hallway with beams and arches showing off the magnificent thick and sturdy cortija walls. The Cortijo retains its authentic atmosphere but with all the comforts you would expect in a modern home. On the top floor is the spacious kitchen and open dining room. The kitchen is well equipped with all the expected built-in appliances. Across the breakfast bar is a dining area for great evenings of entertainment and culinary enjoyment. From the kitchen, there are breathtaking views all around, through the authentic windows with wooden shutters. Continuing through the charming hall, we enter the master-bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The ensuite has Jack and Gill doors one from the bedroom and the other into the hall. The ensuite has a recently installed modern bathroom suite with bright Spanish tiling and invigorating pan head shower. When you wake up, in the morning, you can take a seat on your own private terrace to enjoy the stunning views of the countryside all around you. The open entrance hall finds a traditional tiled stairwell leading down to the ground floor of the Cortijo. Cortijo Ground floor Down here are two further double bedrooms The wooden beamed hall here opens up into a family living room with large classic fireplace. Behind the living room is a small storage room that can be used for several purposes. This part is at least 100 years old !! From the adjoining back hall we turn into the modernised family bathroom with recent new fittings and tiles. The bath is a large jacuzzi style. For owners who may want to use the lower part of the main house for holiday rentals, there is a separate entrance. This entrance gives access to the pool and surrounding terraces. Swimming Pool The swimming pool (8x4 M) is surrounded with a large stone built terrace, olive trees and yuccas and offers breathtaking views over the valley. An unusual and beautiful feature are the natural rock walls surrounding the terrace creating an enchanting oasis to enjoy the tranquillity of this area. Casita This casita is very atmospheric and there are many beautiful classic elements, matching the main house. The casita is spacious and it contains a living room, followed by a bedroom. To the end of this casita is a large bedroom with double doors onto the shaded outside terrace. This bedroom and the main casita both have attractive natural stone walls. The Casita is heated by an effective woodburning stove. With some minor adjustments, this casita is ready to be used as holiday rental accommodation. Vegetable Garden An element that suits the rural location of this cortijo are the masonry white vegetables beds. These beds are meant for growing your own vegetables and fruit. Atmospheric and classic is a description that does justice to this section. There is an irrigation system to encourage the growth of the tastiest vegetables. Circus Wagon A short but beautiful hillside track takes you up to the properties unique, original Circus Wagon. Built in the 19th century, the wagon now nestles secluded in the hillside and has been renovated up to modern standards and is currently available for rental through Airbnb. The wagon has full tourist licenses and its success is proven by its multiple 5 star reviews. Displaying original artwork from circuses across Spain and uniquely decorated it is designed in full circus theme. Retaining all its original features, this circus wagon has been restored and features a super comfortable luxury double bed, dining area, sofa and a stylish fully equipped kitchen with all modern conveniences. The circus wagon is surrounded by a full decking with rocking sun chairs and breakfast table. Complementing the circus wagon an attractive shower cabin has been created, with double shower, toilet and sink, also decorated in the circus style . Hillside Paths and tracks run up from here and all over the extensive internal fenced area of the property, amounting to somewhere in the region of 25 to 30,000 m². This area would be ideal for other activities such as keeping horses or other animals. It is certainly very safe and secure for dogs.
